Sharon J
Sharon grew up swimming and snorkeling in Hawaii. Upon moving to the Midwest, she embraced yoga and meditation, compensating for the lack of snorkeling opportunities in St. Louis. After graduating from Mizzou, she sailed around the world in the Navy, always equipped with her mask, snorkel, and fins. The diverse experiences of snorkeling in the Philippines, American Samoa, Tonga, and Mombasa, Kenya, enriched her connection with the underwater world.
Whether it was a mid-life crisis or a longing to return to the water, Sharon found herself learning to scuba dive in San Diego. Exploring the kelp beds off the coast of Point Loma and Monterey Bay sent her endorphins soaring. Along the way, she realized that diving and meditation were two sides of the same coin, both activities focusing on breath and relaxation.
Now retired from the Navy and settled in northern Virginia, Sharon shares her expertise by teaching scuba diving, meditation, and yoga. For certified Scuba Divers or Open Water Divers seeking a unique experience, she invites them to join her for an underwater yoga class. No prior yoga or meditation experience is necessary.
