Mike has always had an affinity for water sports, and in his earlier days, he was a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor.  He began SCUBA diving in 1982 when he completed the PADI Open Water Diver certification (ask him to show you his original cert card…he still has it!).  He continued diving on and off through the years and has been blessed to dive in some great locations, including the Great Barrier Reef, Australia; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Honolulu and Kona, Hawaii; Jeju Island, South Korea; Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, Mexico;  Key Largo and Key West, Florida; and Caye Caulker, Belize. After completing a 30+ year career as a law enforcement officer, including 17+ years as a fire/rescue/emergency medical services volunteer, he decided to expand his dive knowledge through Rescue Diver certification. Then he went on to become a PADI Pro as a Divemaster,  Open Water Scuba Instructor, and Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff instructor. Mike enjoys sharing his diving knowledge and experiences with others, especially as they take their first breath underwater.  He also enjoys diving with his wife and sons, who are all certified divers as well and especially likes working with the great people from Patriot Scuba and Patriot Diving.
